Active Shooter / Active Threat Training

Active Threat Training Workshop

This in‑person or virtual training is designed for organizations and businesses to prepare participants to survive and respond effectively during violent incidents in any environment. The program focuses on practical, evidence‑based principles that individuals can apply if confronted with situations such as an active shooter event, terrorist attack, workplace violence, or other potentially life‑threatening emergencies.

What will you learn?

This comprehensive one-hour course teaches participants how to recognize the early warning signs of an active threat, identify the presence of an active killer, and determine the most effective response based on their individual abilities, surroundings, and circumstances.

Participants will learn practical decision-making strategies and clear, actionable steps to follow before, during, and after a violent encounter—including what to do when law enforcement arrives on the scene.

Going beyond the basic Run, Hide, Fight approach, this training provides deeper insight into threat recognition, situational awareness, and survival-focused response options. The goal is to empower individuals with knowledge, confidence, and skills that can significantly increase their chances of survival during high-stress, violent incidents.

This course is suitable for:

  • Individuals and families
  • Businesses and organizations
  • Places of worship
  • Schools and educational institutions
  • Security professionals and safety teams

Whether for personal preparedness or organizational safety planning, this training helps participants build confidence and readiness in the face of violence.

Advanced Active Shooter Immediate Response Training (AASIRT)

Advanced Active Shooter Immediate Response Training (AASIRT) brings together the combined expertise of law enforcement and medical professionals to prepare individuals for high‑risk situations. The AASIRT curriculum has been specifically adapted for the general public and uses a dynamic, practical approach to instruction. Participants learn proactive awareness, how to react during violent incidents, and ways to physically protect themselves and others. The training also addresses how to respond to severe, life‑threatening injuries that often occur in these situations. Through hands‑on instruction in emergency “Stop the Bleed” techniques, AASIRT empowers participants to become immediate responders when seconds matter most.

Why is it different from traditional Active Shooter Training?

AASIRT (Avoid, Attack, Survive, Immediate Response Training) was developed by experienced first responders to go beyond traditional Run–Hide–Fight active shooter training. This program equips participants with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to recognize warning signs, respond decisively, and provide lifesaving aid during a violent incident.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize early warning signs through heightened situational awareness to help prevent an active killer event.
  • Understand response options—when to avoid, deny, or take defensive action based on the situation.
  • Apply hands-on defensive tactics for surviving and escaping an active threat.
  • Control severe bleeding and deliver emergency medical aid using practical, real-world techniques.

This training emphasizes rapid decision-making, personal safety, and immediate medical response—all critical factors in increasing survivability during violent encounters.

What you get from AASIRT Training?

Traditional Classroom and Blended AASIRT sessions are approximately 4 hours in length and include hands-on training, realistic drills, and practical education, reinforced with encouraging tips and constructive feedback throughout the course.

Class sizes are limited to 15 participants or fewer, ensuring personalized instruction and active engagement. This small-group approach allows every participant to complete the AASIRT program with the confidence and preparedness needed to respond appropriately during an active killer or other life‑threatening situation.

AASIRT training is designed to support anyone who could be impacted by an active violence incident and is appropriate for all industries and venue types, including but not limited to:

  • Government facilities
  • Healthcare organizations
  • Places of worship
  • Schools and educational institutions
  • Sporting and entertainment venues
  • Manufacturing environments
  • Office settings
  • Retail locations
